Here we explain about Marangu Day hike to Mandara Hut, Kilimanjaro day tour. Depart from Moshi at 07.00 am, There is a drive about 45km from Moshi town which will take 1 hour. You will pass through the countryside of low slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, and see – Maize/corn, coffee and banana plantations near/or at Marangu village. On Arrival at Marangu Gate (1,800m/5,905ft), do registration for an average half-hour to an hour (depends on queue) and then begin the trek to Mandara Hut (2,743m/9,000ft) Elevation Gain: 915 meters. Then begin the climb through the rainforest, walk under the forest canopy and heard bird songs, bushbuck and see a lot of animals such as monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, etc.
You will take about 4-5 hours (8 km) to reach Mandara hut, have lunch and rest your legs. After short rest, you hike up to famous volcano Maundi crater, and have panoramic views to the east over Taveta and to the northwest to Mawenzi Peak are stunning. Then return to Mandara hut, get evening coffee/tea/cocoa and then have dinner at 07 to 09.00 pm. Next morning observe best Kilimanjaro experience views, get breakfast at 08.00 am and descend back to Marangu gate. From the Marangu gate, our car takes you back to Moshi. Mandara Hut is a cottage in the Mountain, Huts are divided into rooms and each sleep 1 to 6 people. You will be provided with mattresses, however, you need to bring a sleeping bag or hire from Moshi (to get enough warmth during the night). Apart from sleeping bags, you need mountain boots, goggles, hats, gloves, and a warm jacket.
